‘Thunderbolt’ to light up the skies at Air Waves Portrush

One of the most iconic single seat strike fighters also known as ‘Thunderbolt’ will make its first ever display in Ireland on the second day of Air Waves Portrush in September.

The renowned SAAB Viggen jet fighter, with its distinctive silver livery, will take to the skies over Portrush for the popular seaside airshow. The display will be a rare treat, providing a thrilling show of power and sound that is sure to enthral the 100,000 spectators expected to descend up the coastal resort for the weekend.

Air Waves Portrush, organised by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council and sponsored by Tourism Northern Ireland, runs from Saturday 5th – Sunday 6th September 2015.

The line-up for this year’s show includes the world-famous Red Arrows, the Blades Aerobatic Display Team and the debut of the RAF Hawk T2 jet Demo Role.

The eastern shoreline of Portrush peninsula with be transformed with show villages including a Motor Village, Ballycastle Market, an Ulster Aviation Society exhibition, static helicopter display and a kids’ fun zone.
