Tiny tot is dragged outside to play

IT can be tough enough even on a good day for a little person to keep pace with the adults around them.

However, for one little tot, Niamh Fleming, from Belview Avenue, getting out to St Columb's Park for a play day with her cousin was...well, child's play to be precise!

Surprised pedestrians stopped in their tracks on Monday afternoon as the well-wrapped up little girl was, literally, dragged outside to play in the snow. But she didn't seem to mind - in fact, Niamh looked like she was enjoying herself immensely. Maybe it was because, while everyone else around her was slipping and sliding around, Niamh was taking things easy in a small blue sleigh. So, instead of being ex ha used battling the elements and trying to negotiate the snow-impacted paths, she was able to sit back, relax and watch the world around her.

At the helm of her seasonal transport was mum Sinead, who seemed to find the logistics of ferrying an excited child a long distance on foot little more than a walk in the park.

Her ingenuity in turning a child's toy into a one-woman transport system brought smiles to the faces of everyone who saw the due as they made their way along Spencer Road. The street itself was all but gridlocked due to the near blizzard conditions on Monday afternoon.

Little Niamh might only have had her mother's pulling power to rely on, but there were plenty of motorists along the route wishing they were travelling as fast as they were.
