Don McCorry, Raughan Lane, Lurgan, was banned from driving for 12 months last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

He was also fined £250 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy for driving with excess alcohol in breath on January 27 this year.

The court heard that he was stopped at a vehicle checkpoint on the Derrymacash Road.

Police noticed the smell of intoxicating liquor from McCorry’s breath.

He failed a preliminary breath test and an evidential test gave a reading of 48.

A solicitor representing the defendant said he had shared a bottle of wine with his wife when his son wanted to go to a local football club and he took him.
