Took car withoutowner's permission

A CRAIGAVON woman who took a car without permission was banned from driving for three months at the local court last Thursday.

Samantha Mary Sheehan (19), of Carrigart Crescent, Craigavon, was fined 200 and banned for three months for not having insurance on March 3 this year.

She was also fined 75, with a concurrent three month ban, for taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and fined 25, with another three month ban, for not having a driving licence.

The court heard the offences came to light while she was stopped at a vehicle checkpoint on the Old Portadown Road.

Her solicitor said the car was owned by her partner’s father who was away for the weekend.

He added that the defendant had ran out of cigarettes and was on her way to the local supermarket.
