Charles Stewart, Granville Meadows, Portadown, was banned from driving for 12 months last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

He was also fined £350 for driving with excess alcohol in breath on September 3 this year. The court heard that at 12.30am police saw a car being driven erratically in Portadown and mounting a kerb in Bridge Street. An evidential breath test gave a reading of 78.

A solicitor representing the defendant said he had taken three pints of beer and had an hour’s sleep before making the foolish decision to go to a filling station to get cigarettes.
