Godson was fined £200 and banned for 12 months for not having insurance and fined £90 for contravening a traffic sign.

Fines of £30 were imposed for not displaying ‘L’ plates, driving unsupervised and defective light.

The court heard police saw him drive through a red light at Church Place in Lurgan and spoke to him in a nearby car park.

The car belonged to his mother and when police spoke to her she said he had taken it without her permission.

Mr Gabriel Ingram, representing the defendant, said Godson’s mother had been out that night in Lurgan and he had taken the car to go to the gym.

He added that the defendant was going past where his mother was and stopped to give her a lift home.
