Took sister's car without her permission

When he took his sister's car without her consent a 32-year-old man was not insured, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Friday.

Vincent Hull, Pinebank, Craigavon, was fined £250 and given six points for driving without insurance on March 3 this year. He was also fined £150 for taking a vehicle without the consent of the owner.

The court heard Hull was stopped while driving a car in Brownlow Terrace, Lurgan and police checks showed he was not a named driver on the insurance. He had taken his sister’s car and she had not given him permission.

A solicitor representing the defendant said Hull had been teaching his sister to drive and had difficulties getting his name added to a policy. He added that there were policies of insurance relating to two family vehicles.

The solicitor added that Hull’s own vehicle was parked beside his sister’s car when he went to pick up the children at school.
