Toomebridge chef meets President Barack Obama at the White House for St Patrick's celebration

Toomebridge chef Noel McMeel has reached another high point in his career, with a visit to the White House to meet President Obama to help showcase Northern Irish food during the St Patrick's celebrations.

The chef, who heads up catering at the plush Lough Erne Golf Resort, is in Washington along with a delegation of prominent figures from Northern Ireland including the First Minister Arlene Foster and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness.

“Amazing day. Meeting the President was such a highlight. Yes I got to meet him again,” said Noel on Twitter.

Throughout his career, Noel has had regular television appearances including the second series of the Great British Menu in spring 2007 and the BBC Two series, Food Poker, in autumn 2007.

He also represented Northern Ireland in the 2008 series of the Great British Menu.

Noel is also a contributor to RTE’s Afternoon Show.

Prior to his current post, McMeel was head chef at Castle Leslie, County Monaghan, where he was responsible for the 300-guest vegetarian banquet at the wedding of Paul McCartney and Heather Mills in June 2002
