Toomebridge company host MLA’s meeting

The meeting was part of an on-going process of highlighting the companies’ commitment to the local economy, and to lobby for assistance in developing a new apprenticeship scheme. The company, which employs nearly 300 people at its Toomebridge plant and 120 at the MDF facility in Antrim , with several hundred more at plants in England, manufactures trailers for household names such as Eddie Stobart, Tesco and DHL.

Speaking after the company hosted a presentation to local MLAs, followed by a tour of the plant, Chairman John Donnelly said,

“We were delighted to host a presentation to our local MLAs and MP, as part of a continuing process of commitment to the local economy. We highlighted to them how we have been able to remain a strong, competitive business throughout the recession through our partnership approach with our staff, and through keeping our operating costs low.

“We explored how we might develop an apprenticeship scheme with the local colleges and we are grateful for the help and advice they offered. We look forward to deepening our relationship with locally elected representatives, and are grateful to them for the support they offered us today.”
