Top accolade for Louise

A LOCAL teenager's model behaviour helped win her a prestigious award at the grand finals of the Top Model UK competition.

Louise Harrison travelled to London's Hilton Metropole earlier this month and claimed the Omar Mansoor Designers' award.

The Lurgan College student was judged by designers to have worn their dresses to the best effect at the gala ceremony.

Louise won an amazing prize, she will travel to London or Belfast to fit for a couture gown designed especially for her by the designer Omar Mansoor.

She will receive a photo shoot with the designer and will wear the gown at a fashion show. Louise will also be listed in the Star Now international database for one year.

It all started when Louise joined Finesse School of Modelling run by Avril Mawhinney, here in Lurgan.

Impressed by Louise, Avril persuaded her with some of her other models to take part in the Top Model UK 2010 auditions.

As Irish coordinator for the event, Avril brought the judges to Brownlow House in November last year for the regional heats.

The photographer was very pleased that Louise did so well and proud that all the girls did so well representing Northern Ireland.

Top Model UK is the leading fashion industry professional model search campaign and fashion event in the UK, and the largest runway fashion show weekend outside of London’s Fashion Week.

This year the search was extended to Ireland and seven girls from Northern Ireland were selected for the final out of 3,000 entrants, nationwide.
