Top accolade goes to Newforge House

Newforge House in Magheralin has won the Guest House of the Year award for the second year in a row.

At a ceremony at the Europa Hotel in Belfast, owners Lou and John Mathers were honoured by award organisers, Licensed & Catering News.

Newforge House beat off stiff competition from a number of very highly regarded competitors in order to take the title this year.

Among those who had been in the running were Rayanne House in Holywood; Cairn Bay Lodge in Bangor and Tara Lodge in Belfast.

Speaking after collecting her award, Lou Mathers of Newforge said: “I’m really delighted to have won – it’s our second year in a row!

“Newforge House has just celebrated 10 years in the business, so it’s brilliant to be receiving an award like this and it’s real recognition of all our hard work.”

This award comes only three weeks after Newforge won the Northern Ireland Tourism Award: Best Place to Stay: Serviced Accommodation 2015.

Bill Penton, organiser of the awards and publisher of LCN magazine, said: “We’re just delighted with the way this event has gone tonight.
