“As the most prestigious renewable energy awards in the NI calendar, I would encourage any organisation working to develop the renewables industry locally or implementing its own renewables strategies to consider entering the annual awards,” said David.

“Not only are the iconic wind turbine awards well-recognised by potential clients and industry peers Northern Ireland-wide, but the added profile associated with winning one of the prestigious Action Renewables Awards can also help to boost the profile of local organisations.

“2015 saw a number of milestones for B9 Energy Storage , which included receiving an EU Horizon 2020 grant to develop and build a distributed compressed air energy storage plant near Downpatrick, in order to demonstrate how this type of energy storage can minimise curtailment of intermittent renewables such as wind and solar as well as allowing more small scale generators to connect to the existing distribution network.

“Not only are renewables important in Northern Ireland for maintaining job security and future proofing our energy sector by using indigenous energy sources, but adoption of renewables will also be essential for taking action against climate change, ensuring security of supply, and reducing our reliance on foreign fossil fuels,” added David.

The deadline for entry to the 2016 Action Renewables Awards, sponsored by Vayu and Tughans solicitors, is 5pm on Monday, February 15.

Winners will be announced at the flagship industry awards event held at Titanic Belfast in advance of a gourmet lunch and afternoon networking event on Thursday, March 31.
