Top legal honours for local graduate

A former pupil of Ballymena Academy has secured three prestigious legal honours and graduated as a solicitor with distinction.

Kathryn Laverty who is now with Cleaver Fulton Rankin in Belfast, scooped the Thomasena McKinney Prize, the Martin McBirney Memorial Prize and Belfast Solicitors Association Prize. The Cullybackey woman, a former pupil at Ballymena Primary School and Ballymena Academy studied at Queen’s University.

Having completed a law degree, she went onto the Institute of Professional Legal Studies so as to qualify as a solicitor.
