Top line-up of shows at Burnavon in Cookstown will put a Spring in your step

On Thursday 7th Queen of Irish Country music, Philomena Begley joins Ray Lynam on the next stop on their unmissable ‘The Two of Us’ Tour.

Tickets are limited and priced at £20. Country music continues with the Golden Years of Country on 14th April, starring and created by award-winning lyricist and star, Jimmy Hendry.

Fans of John Denver should put Thursday 28th in their diaries, when Marc Roberts will perform his critically acclaimed, award winning show ‘A Tribute to the Music of John Denver’. Performing all the number one hits and more from the vast back catalogue of this legend in music, Marc presents a journey through the man’s life and music. Tickets are £20 with 10% off for groups of 10 or more.

True legends of Irish Traditional music, Four Men and A Dog return to their old haunt of the Burnavon stage on Saturday 16th, when their eclectic and vivacious blend of top tappin’ tunes will impress and entertain. Tickets are £20.

Following on from the success of their Burnavon concert last year, Cookstown Folk Club invite you to spend an evening in their company to hear their exciting blend of Irish, Scottish and Bluegrass music and on-stage banter. Tickets are £10 (£8 concession).

Dungannon Choral Society, with guests Cookstown Youth Choir and violinist Plunkett McGartland, showcase their talent on Friday 8th. Both choirs, under the expert musical direction of Meta Bell MBE DL, will perform a variety of well-known and much-loved pieces from musical theatre and older toe-tapping classics to guarantee an uplifting night out. After a sell-out performance last spring the Sperrin Choir return with another programme devoted to the hits of Musical Theatre on Friday 29th. The choir will sing some of the favourites from the shows of Rogers and Hammerstein as well as introducing the audience to some of the musicals currently gracing the stages of the West End and Broadway. Classic Irish Drama takes centre stage this month with two plays that capture the spirt and history of yesteryear. Martin McDonagh’s classic Irish play ‘The Cripple of Inishmaan’ produced and performed by Bardic/Premier Productions on Saturday 2nd is set on the remote island of Inishmaan, off the West coast of Ireland, and examines an ordinary coming of age with dark humour and emotional pathos.

There’s some strong language in the play. Tickets are £14.

Staged on Wednesday 20th, ‘Guests of a Nation’ is set just after the Easter Rising. This evocative production is adapted from Frank O Connor’s short story about two English Soldiers, captured by the Irish Volunteers and portrays the realities of war and how it can affect and change young soldier’s lives. Tickets are £10 (£8 concession).

One of the key events in Mid Ulster District Council’s Decade of Anniversaries takes place in the Burnavon on Thursday 13th; 1916: A Challenging Debate will include panel members Dr Eamon Phoenix, Dr Feargal McBloscaidh, the Rev Professor L S Kirkpatrick and Friends of the Somme, it marks the key shifts in society that happened during this turning point in history. Team work makes the dream work, and that’s exactly what Team Aspie are celebrating on Saturday 9th (7.30pm) with ‘A Spectacular Display’ Gala Concert that shows just what a talented bunch they are.
