ST Michael’s Grammar School were delighted to receive their A Level and AS results last week with the number of A* grades showing an improvement on last year.

Top performer was Niall Rodgers with A* grades in four subjects. Head Girl, Michaela Mulholland and Head Boy Simon Lam also achieved A* grades and have both been accepted into St. Mary’s University College in Belfast to train as teachers.

Others who achieved A* or A grades in all subjects included:- Rachel Bunting, Marianne Downing, Nicola Harnedy, Sarah Henderson, Conleth McAlinden, Orlagh McKavanagh, Anne-Marie Mongan, Rachel Mooney and Roisin Tennyson.

A Level performances were matched by year 13 students who produced an impressive array of top grades in their AS studies with top student Niall Mackle achieving an A grade in five subjects. Others achieving three A grades or better were:- Enya Boyce, Aisling Campbell, Laura Casey, Paul Casey, Sean Crossey, Kieran Hamill, Lydia Heffron, Belinda McGibbon, Caolan McMahon, Colleen Mulholland, Ellen Mulholland, Ciara Robinson and Eilish Smyth.

Principal, Mr Adams, stated he was delighted at the achievements of both year 14 and year 13 students. “I am confident that our year 14 students will proceed to even greater achievements at University and beyond and I am very pleased that our year 13 students have laid solid foundations for success next year.” Mr Adams also hoped that the teachers of St Mary’s and St Paul’s schools would share in the pride of St Michael’s staff at the achievements of the young people whom they had cared for together over the past seven years.
