'Tour De Connor' stops off in Broughshane

REV. Bill Boyce, Rector of St. Brigid's, Mallusk, his Curate Rev. Andrew Ker and St. Brigid's parishioner Sam Cunningham called at St.Patrick's Church, Broughshane, on Thursday morning, June 3, on their 346 mile sponsored cycle to visit every Church in Connor Diocese to raise funds for Friends of the Cancer Centre.

Bill's wife, Sandra died of cancer last year, she was just 56 years of age.

The cyclists were met at St. Patrick's by the Dean of Connor, the Very Rev. John Bond, Rector, church wardens Mr Bob and Mrs Hilary Boddy, along with parishioners and some members of the Mother & Toddler Group.

A cheque was presented to Rev. Bill by the Rector's Churchwarden Mr. Bob Boddy.

The Dean had a prayer with the cycle team before proceeding on their journey. A list of the names of those who lost their lives to cancer was also handed over. These names will be added to the Book of Remembrance, which is being compiled.

A Service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance was held in St. Brigid's on Sunday, June 6, and the Archbishop of Armagh gave the address.
