Tourism Ireland opens the door to Game of Thrones® in Cushendun

Episode eight of season six of Game of Thrones® aired last night, Monday, 13 June, and Tourism Ireland unveiled its latest '˜Door of Thrones' '“ this week in Mary McBrides Bar in Cushendun, near the filming location of the Cushendun Caves, where sorcercess Melisandre gave birth to the shadow creature in season two.

The door is part of Tourism Ireland’s 2016 Game of Thrones® campaign, created in partnership with HBO, which is showcasing Northern Ireland to millions of the show’s fans worldwide. Tourism Ireland is reminding fans everywhere that Northern Ireland’s mountain, castles and shorelines are the backdrop for countless GoT stories and is urging them to come and see where key scenes of the fantasy drama have been filmed.

The doors are being unveiled by Tourism Ireland each week as the series unfolds, in restaurants, pubs and other venues near Game of Thrones® filming locations across Northern Ireland. This week’s door in Mary McBrides pays homage to last night’s episode and features striking designs. It carries the phrases ‘Valar Morghulis’ (a common greeting in Braavos, meaning ‘all men must die’) and ‘Valar Dohaeris’ (meaning ‘all men must serve’).

Tourism Ireland has also unveiled its eighth – limited edition – Game of Thrones® stamp, another element of its campaign, produced in conjunction with the Royal Mail.
