Tourist top brass in Glens visit

The importance of promoting the holiday potential in the Glens and Antrim Coast Road area has been stressed to two of the main ‘movers’ in British and irish tourism at a meeting in Cushendall.

Sinn Féin MLA Oliver McMullan met with Vanessa Markey, head of Tourism Ireland in Britain and Aubrey Irwin, Head of tourism in the North of Ireland.

Mr McMullan said: “The meeting was well attended with a large number of tourist providers and council representatives present discussed the gaps in promoting this area of outstanding natural beauty.

“I was delighted that Vanessa Markey gave a commitment that a bigger effort would be put in to promoting the Antrim Coast and Glens in the incoming years. This was probably the most important tourist meeting held in the Glens for some time and it is one I believe will prove to be of great help to the tourist industry.”
