Tourists spend £34m in Larne

MORE tourists visited the Larne borough in the past year and spent £34.44 million.

Larne Borough Council says the five per cent annual rise in visitor numbers locally was in contrast to a six per cent drop in Northern Ireland as a whole.

The figures were "encouraging" and "could be interpreted as an endorsement to (sic) the council's actions and investment arising from its tourism, heritage and events strategies", said a commentary to councillors on the 2009 Tourism Activity Report in Larne Borough.
