Tourists turned away from B&B due to city bomb alert
Londonderry DUP MLA Gary Middleton has condemned the latest security alert caused by dissident elements.
He said: “Whilst thousands of children and adults were enjoying the Christmas light switch on at Guildhall square, just a few hundred yards away terrorists were plotting their latest way to cause disruption.
“Tourists returning to their B&B accommodation were turned away last night as they approached the police cordon. This is not the image we wish to portray to tourists and those who we want to attract to Londonderry.
“Local residents and businesses were also disrupted.
“I would like to thank the PSNI and the ATO for the work they have done and to encourage anyone with any information to bring it forward to the PSNI.”
