Town centre managers briefed on town example

TOWN Centre managers from across the region descended on Portadown last week for the monthly Association of Town Centre Management (ATCM) meeting, hosted by Craigavon Borough Council.

Ironically Lurgan at present does not have a town centre manager and the council is planning to scrap the post in Portadown to make one manager responsible for the borough.

The ATCM is an organisation dedicated to helping town and city centres realise their roles both as prosperous locations for business and investment, and as focal points for vibrant, inclusive communities. At the meeting, town Centre managers from a wide range of local government departments and town centre management companies had the unique opportunity to study how both Lurgan and Portadown town centres are currently being developed.

The innovative Public Realm Works, which will help to re-establish both Lurgan and Portadown as modern contemporary market towns, were also showcased at the meeting.
