Town Hall awards bash will recognise local volunteers

NOMINATIONS are now being invited for a community awards celebration to mark the official reopening of Larne’s revamped Town Hall.

The glitzy black tie event, which will take place on Thursday, September 27, aims to recognise the outstanding contributions by individuals and groups across the borough.

Shortlisted nominees will receive two tickets and an invitation will also be extended to the person who submits their nomination.

A spokesperson for organisers Larne Council said: “Is there a group of volunteers out there or an individual volunteer that you know who has demonstrated any of the following – inspiration, creativity and resourcefulness, impact, dedication and commitment, leadership, mentoring, or personal development through volunteering? If so, why not nominate them and give them the recognition they deserve?”

Nomination packs are available on the council website (www.larne.gov.uk) or by contacting Catherine Black on 028 2827 2313 or e-mailing [email protected]

The form is easy to complete and people are encouraged to submit their nominations by the closing deadline of 4pm on Wednesday, September 5.

There is also an opportunity for volunteer groups and individuals to attend the reopening event by applying for a random selection for two tickets. Application cards can be requested from Catherine (see contact details above) and should also be returned by 4pm on Wednesday, September 5.

Successful applicants will be drawn at random and it should be noted that only one application per group or organisation may be submitted.

Applications from individual community volunteers will also be accepted.

Larne Town Hall will be open for everyone to visit and view on Thursday, October 4. There will be three sessions when people can look around the building – noon to 2pm, 3pm to 5pm or 7pm to 9pm.
