Town Hall turns purple for epilepsy

The iconic building joined other landmarks from all over Northern Ireland in showing epilepsy’s true colours by switching on purple lights.

Epilepsy Action Northern Ireland worked with Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon District Council to turn local iconic buildings purple to raise awareness of the condition.

Purple Day was created in 2008 by then nine-year-old Cassidy Megan, a Canadian girl living with epilepsy.

Lord Mayor Councillor Darryn Causby commented, “With around one in 90 people in Northern Ireland affected by epilepsy, a lot of people here are still living with the discrimination associated with the condition.

“We are delighted to support Epilepsy Action Northern Ireland by turning Banbridge Town Hall purple to raise awareness of epilepsy and to help dispel the stigma around it.”
