Town man labelled ‘scourge of streets’ by Deputy District Judge

Ryan Patrick Keenan (20) of Glebe Terrace admitted disorderly behaviour and resisting a constable on March 23.

For each offence he was sentenced to three months in prison, suspended for three years.

The court heard that at around 1.15am a police patrol in William Street in Lurgan saw the defendant hitting another male.

Keenan was extremely intoxicated and became verbally abusive to police.

He then shaped as if he was going to fight with police. When he was arrested he said ‘c—ts, f—k the whole lot of you’.

Deputy District Judge, Mr Joe Rice, told Keenan he was a ‘scourge of the streets’ and was someone who had not grown up.

He added that the defendant had relevant previous convictions and was a scourge to local people.

Defence solicitor Conor Downey said Keenan had stayed out of trouble since this incident.
