Town record derby victory

Lurgan Town U12s 7

Seagoe 0

LURGAN Town Under 12s recorded a massive 7-0 victory against Seagoe on Saturday in the Lisburn league, Town who had come off the back of three heavy defeats themselves were looking for a confidence boosting win to get their season back on track again and that’s exactly what happened.

Town started out dominating the game from the first whistle and should have been in front within two minutes but for the Seagoe keeper and they wasted three more clear cut chances to take the lead within the first 10 minutes of the game.

They eventually broke the deadlock in the 11th minute when Travis Hall saw his shot hit the keeper’s fingertips and into the net to set Town on their way and from this point on they just bombarded the Seagoe goal.

Town missed various chances to further increase their lead until the 25 minute mark when Callum Carley came off the bench and saw his first touch of the ball end up in the back of the Seagoe goal to make it 2-0 to Town and give them a comfortable lead, just before the half-time whistle sounded Carley struck again to make it 3-0 and virtually seal the points for Town.

Town began the second half in the same manner as the first and it wasn’t long until further goals were added as Matthew Russell made it 4-0 when he broke down the left and fired his shot from outside the box over the keeper’s head and into the net Mark Hutchinson then made it 5-0 when he scored after a failed clearance from the Seagoe defence fell to him and he drove the ball home from 16 yards and Russell struck again with 10 minutes to go to make it 6-0 before Travis Hall who opened the floodgates shut them again with Town’s seventh and his second of the game to make it a great day for Town as they recorded a convincing 7-0 win against one of their local rivals.

All credit must go to Seagoe, however, who battled hard throughout the game and kept going until the end.

As this was a total team performance it was decided not to award a man of the match award.

Finally the U12 management team club and parents would like to add their congratulations to Andrew Cullen and Matthew Russell who were recently picked for the Under 12 County Armagh development squad.
