Town’s storm-battered Christmas tree removed
A little bit of festive spirit in Ballymoney was blown away when the town’s Christmas tree fell victim to this week’s storms.
On Wednesday and Thursday the tree was battered by powerful gusts and nearly toppled as severe winds struck the UK.
Many people in the town watched it swaying dangerously outside the Town Hall on High Street.

Hide AdOn Thursday evening as decorations and lights were dislodged, workers battled the icy blasts to make the tree safe.
By Friday morning the tree had been cut in half and was shortly removed over a probable safety risk.
It is believed that the council will now have to fork out funds for a replacement tree.
May Dunlop, the mother of motorbiking legends Joey and Robert, flicked the switch on the Christmas tree lights to mark the start of the festive season in the town on November 24.
