Tracey enjoys her ‘grand’ day out at the National

A LOCAL lass is still reliving the day she donned her best clothes and mixed with the elite at Aintree - home of the Grand National.

Tracey McIntyre and her friend, Chris Royston, soaked up the unique atmosphere at the home of the country’s biggest horse race mixing company with jockeys, trainers and owners.

Tracey, from Dervock, is a keen horse racing enthusiast and jumped at the chance of going to the National with Chris.

As our picture shows, Tracey certainly looked the part.

She and Chris started their journey on Friday and arrived at Aintree for the start of the second race.

She placed a bet and saw her horse come in second and when the National came round she also placed a bet, but again her horse, Cappa Bleu, was runner-up.

Tracey, who manages the Centra Store in Dervock, told the Times: “Chris goes every year and when he asked me to accompany him this time I had no hesitation.

“We got close to all the leading horses and managed to get ourselves in the frame with the winner Ryan Mania.”

A bonus for Tracey came when she was leaving the ground and was given a pair of flip flops.

She explained: “Wearing high heels left them full of mud so when we were leaving everyone was able to pick up a pair of flip flops to change into. I kept them as a souvenir.”
