Tractor group raises £2,000 for charities

MACMILLAN Cancer Support and the Oxygen Therapy Centre in Magheramorne will benefit to the grand sum of £1,000 each, following yet another highly successful charity concert organised by the National Vintage Tractor and Engine Club, Ballyeaston Group 32.

With the Brann Memorial Hall at 2nd Ballyeaston Presbyterian Church packed to capacity, an amazing £1,015 was raised on the night. To this was added money raised from the fireside quiz and barbecue, making up the final total of £2,000.

Compere for the evening was Tom Andrew. On the bill were the Star of Knockagh Accordion Band, Ulster Scots musicians Diane McCullough and Emma Smyth, John Magill who entertained with monologues and country and western singer Linda Wright.

A spokesperson for Ballyeaston Vintage Tractor and Engine Club expressed thanks to everyone who contributed to the money raised, all the artistes for giving their services free of charge, the members’ wives and ladies from 2nd Ballyeaston who provided the catering, the Kirk and Session of 2nd Ballyeaston Presbyterian Church for the use of the hall and everyone who helped in any way to make this latest charity concert such a resounding success.

Coming up next for the Ballyeaston Vintage Tractor and Engine Club is the annual ploughing match, to be held on Saturday, March 10 on the lands of Neil and Johnny Coleman, Rectory Road, Doagh.
