Traffic calming for Rossdowney Road

ROADS Service may proceed with traffic calming measures on a main thoroughfare in the Waterside area of Londonderry in spite of a solitary objection to the proposal.

A submission to Roads Service Headquarters seeking to move ahead with the calming measures on the Rossdowney Road is in process.

Acting Divisional Roads Manager Mr S. Wilson wrote to Derry City Council recently to advise of investigations into a number of roads issues raised at a meeting with the local authority in July.

He advised that a "submission will be made to Roads Service Headquarters shortly seeking to have one objection to the proposals for traffic calming set aside."

He informed the authority the Straidarran area between Claudy and Feeney will also be assessed for inclusion in a traffic claiming priority list.

Elsewhere, traffic calming is being considered for the Marlborough, Demesne, Eastway and Buncrana Road areas of the cityside.

Street lighting on the Buncrana Road as far as the border with Donegal and in Carnhill is also being considered, whilst gullies were also cleaned in Marlborough and Carnhill as part of routine Roads Service maintenance.
