Traffic calming scheme welcomed

Speaking after the Council’s Mid-Monthly Meeting Councillor Mairead O’Dowd said she had questioned Road Services representatives on the matte.

She was told the proposed traffic calming scheme at Ballynamoney Cottages was now number one on the priority list for traffic calming schemes and would begin as soon as the monies became available.

The Loughside councillor added: “Following representations from local residents Sinn Fin had lobbied strongly for these measures. We had pointed out that this particular stretch of road has been the scene of several fatalities and effective measures that would slow down traffic were essential if further death and serious injury were to be avoided.

"I am personally delighted that the work is now to commence at the first available opportunity and look forward to seeing its completion as soon as possible.”
