“It’s with a heavy heart that I’m informing my friends and family that our youngest son, Mark passed away in his sleep early this morning,” George McGarvey posted on Facebook on behalf of his wife Judith and their children.

“Mark had been in good enough health, and the suddenness of his death is even more difficult to deal with.

“The hundreds of kind messages posted have been a great source of comfort to us all. We are truly humbled. Mark is now home with us.”

Amongst other accolades, friends remembered Mark as being “one in a million” and “the life and soul of any room”.

A short service will be conducted at his parents’ home at 31A Springhill Road, Moneymore today (Monday) at 11am.

The family will then proceed to Cookstown Cemetery at 12pm and a short committal service will take place at 1pm.
