Tragic Krystian's family say thanks

Krystian Cadler, who lived in Kilrea, died in a collision at Agivey Road, Aghadowey on the evening of Saturday, May 14 after returning from the North West 200 motorcycle races.

Mr Cadler, a father of one-and-half year old Olivia, was a passenger on a motorbike when it was in a collision with a van.

His older brother Grzegorz Cadler, who also lives in Kilrea, launched a fundraising appeal in a bid to raise £2,000 to help return his body to Swiecie in Poland for burial.

The efforts included an online Crowdfunding page which raised more than £3,000.

After the overwhelming response, which in total helped raised almost £4,000 towards travel and funeral costs, Mr Cadler thanked all those who supported them in their time of need.

“I would like thank everyone for their help and support and compassion, all the people who participated in the fundraising, in particular those inhabitants of the village Kilrea,” he said.

He particularly thanked the fundraising efforts of local businesses including Woodland Kitchens, Rasharkin and McAtamney Butchers, Kilrea .

It is understood that Woodland paid for the Cadler family’s return flights to bring Krystian home.

The funeral for Krystian took place in Swiecie on May 21.

Following the fatal collision police renewed an appeal for information.

PSNI Inspector Ian Armour said he would particularly like to appeal to any motorcyclists who had a helmet-cam and may have captured the incident in which Krystian’s friend Lukasz Warchol was injured.
