“Our new train fleet is much quieter and faster than our older models and a moment’s carelessness could lead to dire consequences. Our summer rail safety campaign is based on the ‘Deadline’ theme and highlights the dangers of crossing the line, whether on the platform or close to tracks.

“To encourage the public to report instances of anti-social behaviour, we operate a reward scheme which will make a cash payment of up to £1000 to any member of the public who witnesses any incident of trespass, vandalism or assault against a member of staff and is prepared to give evidence in court, resulting in a conviction.

“We would also ask parents to remind children and young people to stay off the tracks this summer.”

Police are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident to contact them on 08456008000. Or, If you prefer to provide information without giving your details you can contact the independent Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800555111.
