Transforming Your Care - your views matter!

A series of public consultation meetings have been set up across the Northern area for members of the public to join in on the debate about your future health and social care services.

Major plans to set the direction of health and social care in Northern Ireland were issued for public consultation, by Health and Social Care Minister Edwin Poots MLA, on 9th October and will run until 15 January 2013.

Dr Brian Hunter, Chair of the Northern Local Commissioning Group explains: “Transforming Your Care (TYC):Vision to Action, is a consultation document summarising the changes proposed to Northern Ireland’s Health and Social Care system. The proposals focus on reshaping services in order to make best use of all available resources ensuring that the services which we provide to our population are safe, resilient and sustainable into the future.

“The Northern LCG is facilitating three public meetings for members of the public, patients, service users, carers and communities to share their views, concerns and hopes for the future delivery of services in the local area,” said Dr Hunter.

A public consultation meeting will be held on Tuesday, 11 December, 7.00pm – 9.00pm, in Ballycastle High School, 33 Rathlin Road, Ballycastle.

Dr Hunter added: “At this point no decisions have been made. This consultation is aimed at everyone. We all either use health and social care services, or are highly likely to do so in future; or indeed you may be involved in providing health and social care services. I would encourage everyone to get involved in the debate.”

“Each household in Northern Ireland will receive a leaflet over the coming days with information on how you can get involved and give your views on the biggest change in health and social care delivery in a generation,” he said.
