Exclusive commemorative train tickets will be presented to the first 500 passengers travelling on timetabled services between Derry~Londonderry and Coleraine on March 24 - the first train departure on Sunday from Derry~Londonderry is 9.42am or from Coleraine at 10.52am.

Following the re-opening, Translink is also urging the public to always remain safe and vigilant when near railway tracks. Motorists and pedestrians may have been crossing the tracks while the engineering works were ongoing, without exercising the usual caution required.

For reasons of safety, CCTV is in operation at stations, railway crossings and on all trains. These monitor inappropriate behaviour and, in an effort to keep everyone safe, Translink will prosecute anyone caught damaging property, trespassing or endangering others.

Mal McGreevy, Translink General Manager – Rail Services, said: “The re-opening of the railway line and the start of scheduled passenger services marks a significant milestone in the development of the rail network in the North West. We would now encourage passengers to familiarise themselves with the new train timetable to help plan their journeys.”
