Ballyclare road remains closed after fatal collision

Motorists are advised that the Carrickfergus Road remains closed between Castletown Road and Ballylagan Road just outside Straid after a serious road traffic collision yesterday (Monday).

The two-vehicle collision involving a car and a lorry was reported to the emergency services at around 9.15am on January 11.

The male driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are keen to speak to anyone with information about the incident.

Providing a traffic update today, a Department for Infrastructure (DfI) spokesperson said: “Diversions are in place via Ballylagan Road - Main Street, Straid - Straid Road - Castletown Road and vice versa.

“This is likely to remain closed during the Tuesday morning peak traffic.”
