Emergency services at scene of Newtownabbey collision involving pedestrian

Motorists are advised that the country bound section of the A8M is currently closed following a single-vehicle road traffic collision involving a pedestrian.

Detailing the incident, a Department for Infrastructure spokesperson said: “There has been a road traffic collision on Corr`s Corner Roundabout at the end of the A8M heading from M2 J4 Sandyknowes towards Corr`s Corner/Ballyclare/Larne.

“The A8M is currently closed in this direction. Corr`s Corner Roundabout remains open with police managing traffic in the area.

Diversions are in place at M2 J4 Sandyknowes. Road users are advised to expect delays in this area and should seek an alternative route - although with a low volume of traffic on the network, no significant traffic disruption so far.”

A PSNI spokesperson added: “Motorists are advised the Ballyclare Road, Newtownabbey is closed near Corr’s Corner Roundabout following a single-vehicle collision involving a pedestrian this afternoon (Thursday, April 23).

“Please seek alternative routes for your journey.”
