Ewe got it lucky!
BANN Community Rescue members came to the aid of 40 sheep who were in danger of drowning after the River Bann burst its banks last Wednesday.
The BCR crew received a call from the PSNI at 10am saying that some farmers were “in desperation” about how to rescue their sheep which were close to drowning in the swollen river.
Sean McCarry of the Bann Rescue Service told the Times: “When we arrived at the scene, on the Coleraine side of the Agivey bridge, we saw quite a number of sheep, around 40, floundering around, some of them up to their shoulders in water.

Hide Ad“Some were actually in the water and being carried into the river itself.
“We worked in conjunction with the farmers and managed to rescue all the sheep by taking them into the boats. The whole operation took about three or four hours to complete.”
