Female motorcyclist hospitalised after Shore Road collision

A female motorcyclist was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries, “which are not believed at this time to be serious,” following an earlier collision in the Shore Road area of Newtownabbey.

This morning (Friday), police had urged motorists to consider alternative routes “due to further delays in the area” after the incident on Shore Road between Merville and Doagh Road.

Providing an update to the Newtownabbey Times this afternoon, a Police Service of Northern Ireland spokesperson said: “Police received and responded to a road traffic collision involving a motorcyclist in the Shore Road area of Newtownabbey earlier today, Friday, January 27.

“The single-vehicle collision was reported shortly after 10.30am.

"Colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service also attended, and the female motorcyclist was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries which are not believed at this time to be serious.

"Traffic is now flowing normally in the area once again.”
