Firmus gas works commence in Ballyclare

Motorists are advised to expect delays of up to 15 minutes as works in the Rashee Road area of Ballyclare got underway today (Monday).

Road users are advised that a lane closure is operating from the junction of The Priory to the Victoria Road junction.

A Department for Infrastructure (DfI) spokesperson said: “The closure is required continuously for the connection of a new Firmus Energy gas service.

“Two-way traffic lights will be in operation.”

Motorists are advised to expect estimated delays of five to 15 minutes.

The work is due to be completed by 4.30pm on Sunday, February 28.

Meanwhile, a lane closure is also in operation from Flat 12 ‘The Flats’ to the junction of Hillmount Avenue.

A DfI spokesperson said: “Three-way traffic lights at Hillmount Avenue will be in operation.”

Road users are advised to expect delays of between five and 15 minutes.

The work is set to be finished by 4.30pm on Wednesday, February 17.

The work at both sites is being carried out by a Firmus Energy contractor.

Meanwhile, motorists are advised that a £222,000 carriageway and pavement resurfacing scheme on Doagh Road, Newtownabbey commenced at 7am today (February 15).
