Funeral held of man whose body was found at University

THE funeral has taken place of the man who was found dead in the grounds of Coleraine University last Tuesday morning.

Father-of-two, James Allan McCallion, who lived at Elms Park, Ballysally, was buried on Friday following a service in Logan’s Funeral Home, Ahoghill at lunchtime on Friday.

Originally from Ahoghill, Mr McCallion is survived by son James, daughter Alice, mother Doreen and brothers Stephen and David.

Following the funeral service, Mr McCallion was interred at First Ahoghill Burying Ground.

Detectives are still trying to piece together the circumstances of Mr McCallion’s death following a report that his body had been found within the grounds of the Coleraine campus of the University of Ulster shortly after 9.10am on Tuesday.

Police immediately cordoned off an area close to a small stream and forensic teams carried out tests in the area.

Police confirmed that a post mortem has been held in relation to the cause of the death. Enquiries are continuing in relation to the circumstances of the incident.
