Gas leak at Antrim Area Hospital

At around 8.00 am this morning, 18th February, contractors working on the Antrim Area Hospital Site hit a gas pipe.

Patients in the main hospital and in the A &E department were moved within the hospital until the situation was resolved.

The alert was stood down at 10.00 am and Antrim Area Hospital is functioning as normal.

Chief Executive Sean Donaghy, said: “We have plans in place for incidents such as this, and we review and rehearse them frequently. I am pleased the alert process went smoothly, with minimum disruption to patients and that we are now back to normal business. Staff on the hospital site acted quickly to minimise disruption and ensure patient safety and I would like to thank them, the fire service and PSNI”.
