Lanes closed in Carrick for works

Motorists are advised that sections of roads in Carrickfergus are closed for works.

A section of the A2 Marine Highway is closed for repairs to a street lighting cable fault.

The lane closure, which commenced at 9.15am today (Monday), is operating from opposite the Clock Tower Café to opposite Marine Gardens.

The closure is required daily for street lighting cable fault.

The work is being carried out by Department for Infrastructure Roads contractors.

Road users are advised to expect estimated delays of up to five minutes.

The work is set to be completed by 4pm on Tuesday, August 4.

Meanwhile, a section of the A2 Larne Road is also closed in the town.

The closure, which at 9.30am today, is operating from 45m to 65m from junction with Downshire Gardens, countrybound.

A Department for Infrastructure (DfI) spokesperson said: “The closure is required continuously to provide a gas connection to 80 Larne Road.

“Lights and same day reinstatement will be undertaken.”

The work is being conducted by DfI Roads contractors.

Road users are advised to expect an estimated delay of up to five minutes.

The work is due to be completed by 4.30pm on August 3.
