The Times reported yesterday how the scheme is set to be completed in three phases.

The first will see work on the southern footway starting to the west of the Dunanney development and extend to Doagh Road Roundabout and will include the replacement of the current flat kerbs with 100mm upstand kerbs.

The second phase will deliver similar work on the northern footway past the garage and the houses in Altnacreeve Park which face onto O’Neill Road, to the Doagh Road Roundabout.

The third and final phase will be the resurfacing of the carriageway.

The work is expected to be completed by September.

Cllr Noreen McClelland said: “This announcement is great news for people living around Knockenagh Avenue and around the Doagh Road Roundabout.

“Minister Mallon is again demonstrating her commitment to improving the quality of infrastructure in our communities and giving local people the opportunity to choose a more active lifestyle.
