Newtownabbey road reopened following fatal collision

Police have advised that the Upper Hightown Road has reopened to motorists following a road traffic collision in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).

Officers are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to contact 101.

Inspector Paul McCarron said: “The collision was reported to us at 2.20am involving a grey Ford Focus that was located in a field in the Upper Hightown Road area.

“Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area this morning and captured what occurred on their dash cam to contact us on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 105 of 06/05/20.”

The road was closed for a number of hours between the Crumlin Road (Horseshoe Bend) and the Hightown Road.
