Newtownabbey roads closed for NI Water works

The road closures, which commenced at 8am today (Monday), are to facilitate NI Water service pipe replacement works.

Commenting on the Glebe Gardens works, which are due to be completed by 6pm on Sunday, February 7, a Department for Infrastructure (DfI) spokesperson said: “Local access only - Cul-de-Sac.”

Tobarcooran Avenue is closed from Glebe Road West to Osterley Avenue.

A DfI spokesperson said: “An alternative route is Glebe Road West and Osterley Park.”

The work is set to be finished by 6pm on Wednesday, February 10.

Work at both sites is being conducted by a NI Water contractor.

Estimated delays of up to five minutes are expected during the Glengormley works.

Meanwhile, a section of Ballycraigy Road in Newtownabbey is closed for works.

The lane closure, which commenced at 9.30am today (Monday), is operating from Laurel Hill to Kiln Road.

A DfI spokesperson said: “The closure is required daily (weekdays only) for VRS repairs.”

The work is being carried out by a DfI Roads contractor.

Road users are advised to expect an estimated delay of up to five minutes.

The work is due to be completed by 4.30pm on Sunday, February 14.

The Department also advised motorists of a lane closure on the O’Neill Road.

The lane closure, which commenced at 7am today is operating from Doagh Road to Prince Charles Way.

A DfI spokesperson said: “The closure is required daily for footway resurfacing works and island realignment.”

The work is being carried out by a DfI Roads contractor and road users are advised to expect an estimated delay of up to five minutes.

The work is due to be completed by 6pm on Sunday, February 7.

A series of closures have been implemented on the O’Neill Road as part of an improvement scheme.
