Newtownabbey roads closed for works

Motorists are advised that the Dermont Road in Mallusk is closed for resurfacing works.

The road closure, which commenced at 8am today (Thursday), is operating from Hypepark Road to Blackrock Park Avenue.

A Department for Infrastructure (DfI) spokesperson said: “An alternative route is Hydepark Road, Blackrock Boulevard, Blackrock Park Avenue (vice versa).”

The work is being carried out by DfI Roads contractors.

Road users are advised to expect an estimated delay of up to five minutes.

The work is set to be completed by 6pm on Friday, September 18.

Meanwhile, a section of the A2 Shore Road in Newtownabbey is closed for Phoenix Gas works.

The works, which commenced at 9.30am today, are being conducted from opposite Merville Garden Village to opposite 196 Shore Road.

A DfI spokesperson said: “Closure is required off-peak only for excavate around high pressure gas main.

“Belfast bound traffic - Lane 1 to be closed for full duration of the works.

“Also Lane 2 on Longlands Road will be closed during works at off-peak times.”

The work is being carried out by Phoenix Operations.

Road users are advised to expect an estimated delay of up to five minutes.

The work is due to be finished by 4pm tomorrow (Friday).
