No date set for trial pay on foot parking system in Magherafelt

Mid Ulster District Council is introducing a pay on foot system at the Central car park, off King Street, Magherafelt for a trial period.

The Central car park can accommodate 118 vehicles and provides a mixture of free and charged parking spaces.

Work has commenced on erecting barriers at the entrance to the park, prompting concerns from local motorists that the free parking spaces are to be removed.

A Council spokesperson said: “Central car park has two sections, one portion is charged and the other is free. It was agreed some time ago by the Council to trial a pay on foot system at Central car park and this is the reason for the current works. However, at present there is no date for the introduction of pay on foot at this car park.”
