Police target ‘poor drivers’

The move follows complaints from residents in the residential enclave that “sub-standard” driving from those passing through was a potential risk to life and limb.

Coleraine’s chief police officer, Area Commander Nicky Thompson, says his officers have begun “high-visibility patrolling to detect and address any sub-standard driving” in the area.

“The team has also liaised with their colleagues in Roads Policing and they have conducted patrols in unmarked police vehicles,” he said.

The PSNI contacted DoE Roads Service who visited in person only to stress that the estate already possesses fixed traffic calming measures.

Efforts are continuing to find a more permanent solution to the problem.
