Road reopens after Newtownabbey security alert

Police have advised commuters that the Antrim Road in Newtownabbey has reopened to traffic following an earlier security alert in the region.

The road was closed for several hours following the discovery of a viable pipe bomb.

Providing an update, a PSNI spokesperson said: “The Antrim Road in Newtownabbey has re-opened following an earlier security alert.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact detectives at Antrim CID, quoting reference number 562 of 25/1/23.
